Shooting

  1. Watch the videos below.  I know they are long (45 minutes each), however, this is what it takes to learn properly.  Shooting is complicated, it will take a long time to learn all the details.
  2. When practicing your shooting techniques, take CLOSE shots.  The distance should be half way between the basket and free throw line.
  3. Focus on the shooting fundamentals: hand placement, shooting arc, position on your feet ball rotation, etc
  4. Fun shooting game: Pick 3-4 spots on the court (Example: close to the basket, half way between net and free throw line, the free throw line).  Make three shots from each spot.  If you miss one shot, you start from the beginning.  The game ends when the shooter makes all 9-12 shots without missing.
  5. Keep a shooting log.  Try and take 25,000+ shots by the end of the summer.
  6. Take video of your shooting form.  Analyze your shot.  Fix any mistakes.  If you want an opinion of your form, send a copy of the video to coach Jason, via Whatsapp.
